This small City but progressive capital town of La
Union boasts highly of its excellent peace and order condition and
has gotten the popular name ---"Crossroads of Commerce And Industry
and the Hub of Tourist: in the Northern Luzon Provinces. Aside from
these national famous qualities as a City, San Fernando, thus far
has one of the most number of service, civic and or religious clubs
organized, and one of which is the Rotary Club of San Fernando La
Union, Inc.
The organization of RCSFU, Inc., the 42nd
Rotary Club in the Philippines was attributed to the enthusiastic,
persevering spirit, dynamic personality and energetic efforts of
Sixto S. "Six" de Vera, Philippine National Bank Branch Manager in
La Union designated by Rotary International to spearhead its
organization. As the "Father of Rotary" in La Union, he was
unanimously elected first president during the organizational
meeting on September 26, 1959. The Dagupan Rotary Club headed by
Pres. Eutiquiano P. "Nave" Nava was its sponsor with Francisco S. "Ikong"
Reyes as the District Governor and Dr. Augusto "Evi" Evidente as the
RI special representative.
The other officers elected were Dr. Rufino N. "Mac"
Macagba, vice-president; Mauro A. Cabading, director and secretary;
Atty. Rodolfo M "Rudy" Nisce, treasurer; and Judge Pedro O. "Pete"
Arciaga, Dionisio N. "Baldy" Baldemor and Ireneo "Rene" Gacad,
directors. Officers appointed by the president were: Pio S. "Dee"
Dyquianco - assistant secretary; Atty. Jose B. "Peps" Tavora –
auditor; Andres G. "Andy" Sanchez - sergeant –at-arms; and Luis S.
"Louie" Limjap - accountant.
The club registered 36 charter members. Other members

Through the years, the club has received different
international, district, local and national awards with its
different accomplished projects.
The weekly luncheon-meeting goes on every Tuesday,
12:30 Noon at Oasis Country Resort
Sevilla and this has strengthened the bonds of fellowship through
constant contact with one another. Thus, the Rotary Club of San
