It was an informative and interesting meeting last week. We had Engr. Felipe Lu, plant manager of Bauang Private Power Corporation, the largest investor in La Union. We were shown how the company (BPPC) operates efficiently and what steps they are taking to ensure their power plant is environment friendly. If you studied your physics, you should have no problem answering PVP Tante questions regarding electricity. Last Monday, our club presented to the Regional Disaster Coordinating Council and Provincial Disaster Coordinating Council the Disaster Preparedness Training for 4 disaster prone municipalities. With me are VP Rex, PP Kit , Rtn Bill. Government agencies that were present were Marivic Baobaoen - International Aid, Sr. Supt.Wilmer Panabang -PNP -PD, Bionalyn Guerra -PSWD, Ronaldo Caasi -PNRC, Edgar Ollet -OCD-RD. The project was well received especially by Provincial Governor Victor Ortega who also gave some additional suggestions to better implement this project. The different government agencies in attendance also pledged their support in the different phases of the project. After the presentation to the Regional and Provincial Disaster Coordinating Council, the same presentation was given to representatives

of the 4 Municipalities chosen for this training. The project was also warmly welcomed with some more adjustments to be made in the modules and phases of the project as we go on. This week, we will start meeting with the 5 Barangays in each municipalities(so that's 20 Barangays in all) in preparation and hopefully to start the training. I guess this means the start of a grueling 6-month project for the club. This will certainly be long but a very worthwhile project because this will be the first time such a comprehensive disaster management training is conducted for the province of La Union at barangay level or what they call the "Grass Root" level. Our club also implemented its 3rd Mini Forest in a School Project at North SPED School with the help of our RVC of North SPED School. Around 150 mahogany seedlings were planted and we also donated 24 pcs of gardening tools for the Central School and its 16 other satellite schools as part of our support. With me were PP Albert, IPP Jerome, PP Ferdinand, VP Rex, Dir Jun, Dir Alan, Rtn. Romeo, Rtn Edward Dy and of course our ever supportive Inner Wheels headed by Pres Hailey. This Wednesday, we will again have a meeting with the RVC North SPED school to tackle on what livelihood project to implement.
