located in Luneta. It was like entering an OB Montessori or a private school campus. The Central School of Sudipen proves that any public school can be self-sufficient and self-sustaining and not relying much on government's provisions. Provided there's a genuine concern on the part of the school management. It's worthy of emulation.
We again visited the RVC of Bal Lay the next day for a meeting with our officers. I am glad that it looks like we are getting somewhere in reviving this RVC. Hopefully, we can start re-organizing them this Saturday, August 4, 2001. Our club also hosted the seminar for Barangay Health Workers on disaster preparedness, basic first aid, and practical treatments of certain diseases.
Lastly, we also attended the inductions of RC Midtown Tarlac and RC Metro San Fernando (LU) towards the end of the week. Once again, my heartfelt thanks to all those who accompanied me.

Looks like the new groupings of program participants are starting to blend in. Last week we started the meeting on time. We were mesmerized by a wonderful entertainment from no less than the "Jose Mari Chan" of our club, PP Tony. Asst. Sec Ernie, who headed the friendship session, led us to a game which tested our hand and mind coordination whereby two Rotarians were asked some trivia questions about, and regarding La Union in honor of our Guest Speaker, former Gov Justo Orros. The first to tap the microphone with the correct answer was fined P50, and the last to have done so paid P100, respectively. Rtn Romy de Castro properly introduced the honorable guest, who happens to be a club member. He talked about his accomplishments in his three terms as Provincial Governor. The meeting ended on time.
Subsequently, another board meeting took place. We approved our participation in the upcoming YMCA Inter-Civic Bowling Tournament on August 15, 2001; and our participation in the Nutrition Month program of the Provincial Government. Late in that afternoon we proceeded to the chartering of the RC of Metro Pangasinan Millenium.
On Wednesday, we had a field day at the Central School of Sudipen. Together with the Inner Wheel Club, we toured around this public school and we were impressed on how the administrators have been so resourceful in transforming their school more conducive to learning. Facilities like a clean school clinic, technology and home economics rooms have been diligently provided for. They have also managed to put up income generating activities like vegetable gardening and tilapia fishpond. Noticeable, too, were the paintings on the surrounding walls of the campus that were educational and engrossing depicting Filipino values, science, math, etc. In fact, we are contemplating on adopting a similar project to focus on the edification of values. They also have a planetarium that can give a run for the money of the one

We just had a busy week, and look forward to another hectic one. Simultaneous with our meeting is a joint program of our club, and the Provincial Government: Nutrition Council Programs composed of Nutri-Tula, Nutri-Juice making, and Nutri-booth being held at the Capitolyo to culminate the month long Nutrition Celebration. Everyone is enjoined to drop by after the meeting.
On August 6, our 3H Grant Program on Medical Equipment Training in Lorma will commence its 2nd session.
We are gladly regarding the appeal of the Naguilian District Hospital for mattresses of patient's beds. Fifteen Rotarians have pledged financial donations to procure the said need.
