What is Rotary ?

The Pains and Joys of Leadership
BY  PP ALBERTO T.L. DY

The perception that somebody "can not just become a member of the Rotary Club, unless...!?" , is a line which, I think, remains an  issue of concern.
A lot of people have the notion that it is a group of oldies, and become so surprised much to disbelief whenever they see young fellows in the club (not necessarily our dear club!). For them, Rotary Club, with its quest for truth, is an alliance of businessmen, group of retirees and elitists who spare modest amount for the clubs' activities. These misconceptions may be half-truth, or may be all true depending on a club's  projected image. However, this creates a false stigma. It is a dangerous mindset, though.

What seems to be wrong? I'm sure we are not short in creating awareness. We make people aware of our existence through our various projects. We are a group ready and available to provide assistance, and much more we are always there to serve. People know the heart of our club, but why can't we make an accurate account  to the common people?
Apparently, the best antidote is right there in the bucket, all we have to do is to prescribe an in-depth medicine in a sustained release form so that reality will surface. That Rotary is a non-partisan organization, a niche for service and builder of goodwill, that Rotary, no matter what, really belongs to
everybody!
