Last week, we were given an overview of the various functions and activities of the Agrarian Reform office of La Union, truly a noble undertaking. Although they still have a long way to go and more obstacles to tackle, this will certainly bring better understanding and peace amongst men. Which reminds me that February is World Understanding Month, this coming February 22, our sister club, the Rotary Club of An San, Korea will be visiting our club and San Fernando City again. About the same period last year, we signed our sisterhood agreement with An San Rotary Club. An San is the largest industrial city of Korea with over 3,000 industries and they are looking at the possibility of investing in Poro Point, San Fernando City and what better way to understand the people here by establishing a sisterhood agreement with a Rotary Club.
Last Wednesday, we had a whole day activity, we started with Vitamin A supplementation program for the three municipalities in La Union, namely, Sudipen, Luna and Bangar with around 2,000 grade 1 pupils administered Vitamin A. We also took this opportunity to conduct a feeding program for the 44 malnourished kids of Bangar Central Elementary School, we

initially gave 120 boxes of Neslac milk formula as supplement to their daily diet.
We conducted two tree planting activities with the students of  Sudipen Central School and Luna Central School where we turned over 12 gardening tools for each school. We have made this initiative that schools who solicit gardening tools from our club will first have to conduct a tree planting activity wherein they have to plant a minimum of 150 mahogany seedlings. This way, we can encourage and help out our "Forest in a School" project, which is to establish a mini forest in all public schools of La Union. We also donated 10 boxes of assorted books to Sudipen and Bangar Elementary School Library.
During this whole day activity, we took time to relax and have lunch at the beautiful beach of Nalvo, Luna. The place was good and food was great! Of course, this was prepared by our Inner Wheel members headed by Pres. Hailey, Susan, Venus and Marijo. I would like to thank the following Rotarians who sacrificed a whole day to be with us, namely, VP Rex, Dir Reggie, Dir Jerry, Treas Arnel, Edward Dy, Romy Chan and Rtn Ronald.
