" Beauty is its own excuse for being ," a romantic once said. This may be true but I'm sure our guests for today, Miss San Fernando and her Court, would frown on the idea that their only excuse for being here is that they are nice to look at. Today's ideal woman, which pageants like the Miss San Fernando Contest seek to discover, is a lady who has beauty, brains and personality. That is why Beauty pageants have a "talent", as well as a "question-and-answer" portion. These ladies will be representing our beloved city wherever they go, so we have to make sure that they won't shame us by what they say and do. Who knows, in the future they might not only do our City proud, but even bring honors to the Country. At any rate, it is a great honor for me to be sharing a table and rubbing elbows with Miss Sheryll Anne Ducusin and Company.
Yesterday, we held the opening of the "Medical Equipment Repair" School, at the compound of the Lorma College. As you all know, the School is being funded by the 3-H Grant which our Club was able to obtain, largely through the efforts of PP Rufi Macagba.
A large role was also played by Bill Teninty, of International Aid. Bill, is now also going to be a Rotarian. He was Rotarized last Friday by PDG Ces Mendoza accompanied by Incoming President Richard Dy and Club Service Director Jerry Parlan. Thanks a lot guys, for pushing through with the Rotarization even in my absence. Bill, if all goes well, is set to be Inducted as New Member of our Club, today.
This morning, was the commencement exercises of our Adopted SPED School. Perhaps, right now, the SPED school kids are still partaking of the delicious lunch, provided by McDonald's, to be payed for by PP Aldy Dy. It is a real good feeling to be able to bring some joy to these kids by gifting them with something which we take for granted. So please support also, our "Circus Show Project"- part of the proceeds will go to the "Special Children" Fund. Of course, we will also be helping ourselves in the process, since the other part of the proceeds will be for the "Rotary Service Center" Fund.
