s we usher in the month of September, we are reminded of the coming r r r r r months, which end in December. Days pass by so softly and before we know it, we are already entering the next millennium. As we even begin to contemplate on the activities remaining for the days ahead, let us give cognizance to the youth for the month, since, they will be our main concern.
Actually, a "kick-off" activity was already conducted last 31 August 1999 which ended last 03 September, when we opened the Health Fair Exhibit at the Mabanag Compound, here in San Fernando. The activity catered mainly to the young populace, since the main participants to the health forum and short workshops were students of both private and public schools in the city. Another item worth mentioning is the outcome of the productive meeting we had last Thursday 02 September 1999 wherein I received a very significant proposal for the establishment of a "Training Program for the Maintenance and Repair of Hospital Equipment in the City of San Fernando". It was proposed by PP RUFFI MACAGBA who was later appointed by me to be the Chairman of the Project Advisory Council. This proposal had greatly stir the interest of the Club's Board of Directors, so much, that they unanimously approved to adopt the program. It was further suggested that all Rotarian Doctors of our Club to become a member of the said council. This proposal is indeed very timely and helpful considering that it will not only benefit the hospitals, but the patients as well, as it aims to improve the reliability and availability of diagnostic and therapeutic medical equipment. In addition, lesser hospital equipment purchase will spell cheaper charges for the patients.
As mentioned previously, most of our upcoming activities will be joined by the Inner Wheel Club of San Fernando, La union. As an addition to the list of our accomplishment with the Inner Wheel, is the de-worming activity which was held last Friday, September 3,1999 at Sibuan-otong. After which, a feeding program will follow this week to the same barangay. Another activity worth mentioning and is one of my favorites, is the Inter-Civic Bowling Tournament which was finally came to start last September 1. It is one of my favorites among our activities, for reasons that it serves as our deviation to our busy and hectic life - a sort of exercise. Likewise, it is for fellowship with the other clubs in our City. Sportsmanship will be further enhanced, although winning will serve as added bonus to the team. Gladly, I would like to congratulate our team for winning the game versus LUPSA.
Today is our Club Assembly, I am looking forward for your usual support, cooperation and active participation. Your suggestion for furthering the improvement of the Avenues of Service of the club will be very much appreciated. Next week will be the Governor's Visit. I am hoping you could all join us at 9:00 A.M. for the presentation of reports to the Governor. During our regular luncheon meeting, we will have it as Ladies Day, a further fellowship with the District Governor and his First Lady. So, bring your Anns.
