he month of October ended with a Mega Trade & Job Fair which lasted from October 24-31,1999. It was another significant activity for Rotarians involved that All Saints Day and All Souls Day came as a breather to all of us for not only did we have time to visit our departed loved ones but also to be with our dear families. The success of the said affair can be credited to our Community Service Director Rex Mendoza and volunteers of the Red Cross Youth for setting up of the tents and for inviting exhibitors. The same credit goes to both our Vocational Director Jerome and Chairman Ernie Galera for coordinating with the different establishment for the Job Placement.
We have started the month of November by giving Career Guidance to the High School students of UCC last November 4. My heartfelt gratitude and commendation to Director Jerome and Chairman Ernie & to our co- Rotarians namely; PP Andy Astom, Rtn. Diego Ledda and Rtn. Lorenzo Balbin, who served as Resource Speakers for their job well done.
Incidentally, we have just finished our 40th Anniversary ( Ruby Year ) Golf Fellowship at Wallace Golf Course last Sunday. It was an event worth treasuring that its success can be truly attributed to all golfers who participated, to the members of our club who sponsored and to the numerous sponsors who contributed and extended financial support to this golf fellowship. We were able to achieve not only our main objective to gain better fellowship with our members but also with other Rotarians in the District and prospect Rotarians as well. Further, the attainment of our objectives can be credited to the very active Chairman -Jerry Parlan, Co-chairman- Paquito Dy and Chairman on Sports Activities - Romy Chan whose efforts and dedication are overwhelming. With the attainment of our objectives, who says work and play don't go together? Another attained objective of this Golf Fellowship is the fund that was raised for our damaged Rotary Service Center. To facilitate the fulfillment of this objective and considering that it will involve an enormous amount, we have created a committee that will look into the possibility of either rehabilitating or relocating our Rotary Service Center. The Committee is composed of the following Rotarians: PP Aldy Dy, Chairman; PP Cres Fernandez, Co-chairman; PDG Ces Mendoza, PP Rufi Macagba, PE Jerome Gaerlan, Rtn. Fred So and yours truly as Members. Likewise, I would like to take this opportunity to request the presence of the mentioned Rotarians for our committee meeting after our regular luncheon meeting.
The month of November comes with the theme Rotary Foundation. As constant recipients of many grants of this Foundation, we must return the favor by raising 1 Paul Harris Fellow today. This will be our contribution to the Rotary Foundation and I find joy in knowing that many of you have already made their pledges, an assurance of your full support to this Club objective.
Let me take this chance also to remind you that our Rotary Foundation Seminar is fast approaching of which we are the Host Club. In this regard, may I earnestly request again that all those who were assigned or given a task for this seminar should do their share and being the Host, our club members should attend this seminar specifically the new members.
